If you've found yourself here, looking for family therapy, couples therapy, guidance on dealing with shame, or mental health therapy, it's because you've already taken the first step towards healing – recognizing you're human. A great, and sometimes a mess that needs and deserves love, compassion, and support to flourish.
Most importantly, what each of us need is to feel safest when we're alone with ourselves.
Being able to do this requires the learned practices of resilience and mental fortitude. We aren't simply born with these skills; they are slowly and steadily built into our system by stumbling along our journeys and learning different ways of getting back up. Humanizing ourselves (recognizing that we are all on a lifelong adventure filled with humps, lumps, and bumps) is essential for our inner healing. Counseling sessions with me are a starting point to remind you of just that!
I'm Jahmela Headley - a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over a decade of experience in assisting people in healing their inner wounds and living passion-filled lives. In short, I'm in the business of healing souls, healing hearts and healing minds. Counseling, by my own definition, is a sacred and cherished calling. I'm a fellow human being who has gone through my own journey of self-discovery and healing. Having earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University and my Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University, I have built my own conscious healing counseling practice where I help you gain a vibrant sense of purpose and deep understanding of yourself, while showing compassion to your and others' humanness.
I've worked with individuals, families, and couples to:
My experience has taught me that many of my clients' adolescent years were the most impactful in terms of their outlook on themselves and their sense of purpose. In this case, delving into one's inner child is often essential to the healing process, with a focus on overcoming shame by reconnecting with your inner child through the effective reparenting modality, Internal Family Systems framework, shadow work and accountability. Going inward and looking back at your life through a different lens is required before seeing genuine change in the present and having a sense of optimism for your future.
For this reason, online counseling for teens is also a field that lives close to my heart. Therapeutic insights and intervention at this pivotal time of development can have a profound impact on shaping young minds. It is at this point that trauma-informed care and therapy for anxiety (which is a normal part of transitioning into adulthood) can help teens step into their power with confidence and the mental health awareness they need to excel in life.
Whether you're looking for individual therapy, couples therapy online, help dealing with survivor's guilt, family therapy online, or a strong hand to hold during a mental health crisis, it all comes down to inner healing counseling which starts with a bold step towards healing hands that are trained to hold and guide you through each of life's chapters.
I'd be honored to be the hands you choose to hold.
